Max,

thanks for advice - I know about this way. However, in my case, it is not 
possible, because it will be complete rebuild of one half of old stone house, 
imbedded into the hill. We would like to keep current look and floor height, 
as well as its solid stone feel, therefore we would like to use heavy 
lime-sand walls. Not a good situation for pylons...

As to 'learn by reality' - I have already one small floor of straw bales 
directly on concrete and with wood above in our garden house, breathable for 
water vapour from top. But not used yet and still open for wind from outside 
=> experience will be gathered maybe a few years later.
