Jezis! "slámou namáčenou v hliněné kaši."= Cob!

Ok, this I know much about, (We have lots of cob structures in PermaLot), however very little to answer with technical parameters. First of all you have to understand that it's heavy, which means high thermal mass and less insulation. You can regulate cob to be extremely heavy (for ovens), or relatively light, which is why there's no specific parameters.
If you simply mix straw with a clay 'slip' (kind of soup), then what you're making is no longer cob, but 'Light Loam' (Light lehm). This has a lot better insulation quality.

The present day 'inventor' of this old technique is Ianto Evans of the Cob Cottage Company [Which I learned from, and will be visiting again next month :) ]. It is noteworthy that in his latest houses he is integrating full straw bales, partly to gain better insulation, partly to save time mixing cob...

As for attaching on wood: The trick is to use a lot of bent old nails on the wood first, or to mount some reeds on the wood. Anything to give the cob a better 'grip' on the wood.

Naturally this, and much more, is what you can learn from reading the books the Cob Cottage Company sells on www.cobcottage.com, or simply by coming to one of the many weekend or longer courses here at PermaLot centre of Natural Building :-)   ... Also: have a look at www.ilovecob.com
