[Ekodum] International Conference and trade fair - Modern Earth Building 2005, 18 to 20 November 2005 in Berlin

Dear earthbuilders,

Umbra GmbH organizes in co-operation with PROFAIR GmbH from 18 to 20 November 2005 the international conference Modern Earth Building 2005. Parallel to the conference there will be the trade fair Lehmbau '05. The combination of conference and trade fair is ideal for the visitors: Regarding new earth building products and discussing about new technical developments in earthen architecture.

The conference
About 250 visitors from all over the world will join the conference. A good chance for an exchange of information and knowledge about earthen architecture. In a keynote speech about earth plasters you will be informed about their characteristics and changes caused by additions, handling and surface treatment. Also the process and the requests to get the seal of quality “natureplus” for earth plasters will be explained. The importance of earth building for a sustainable future will be illustrated and explained by the impressing example "New office of the Federal Environmental Agency in Dessau". Andrew Kiel, from Sauerbruch Hutton architects in Berlin, will present the aspects of “Dividing walls with clay in office construction”. Qualification, renovation, rammed earth, dissemination and the future developments in earth building will be further discussion points. On the excursions you will have the opportunity to visit sites of earthen architecture in the region of Berlin-Brandenburg.

The trade fair
About 60 exhibitioners will present their new products on the trade fair. Claytec - the German leader of clay building materials - will present the first certificated earthen plaster by “natureplus”. Get the impression of the coloured plasters of Tierrafino, Amsterdam. Visitors will be informed about the high tech quality of new earth building materials. Get new ideas for your project developments from new projects of international Architects.
