Dobrý den.
hlavni odpoved pro "dotaz (Libuše Slabá)" a izolace roubené dřevěnice
(petrnedbala AT volny.cz), ale musna dobre pro kazdyho....ale ne ma sans psat inteligentni
cestina...so you get it in English...
"dotaz (Libuše Slabá)">
Our demonstration house 'Prirodni Dum' will during the spring be insulated with straw bales 'podkrovních', but we basically built to roofs to create the space for this. I don't believe you need any type of membrane if you plaster it with earth on both sides and create a ventilation space between the bales and the roof.(The plaster on top is also due to fire prevention). I would basically not recommend you to use straw, as you will have a hard time creating the ventilation and fire proofing + enough straw to have an effect. Many people use the straw panels from EkoDesky Stramit (EDS), however I don't believe it provides any significant insulation (it is extremely compact, with each panel weighing 60 kg). Best I can recommend is reed panels (only available as import from Hungary), or commercial insulation from hemp or flax: Marek Vlcek sells all of the above.
For your 'bomba': It was estimated that 40% of people in the world lives in dwellings
made from Earth. I guess 20% of these are made of 'vepřovic'. I also guess that 20 of
rural houses are made from it. Leading European expert in vepřovice is Prof. Gernot
Minke who will be giving a workshop in Slovakia during the spring. We will make some
vepřovice during a weekend workshop here this spring for an internal wall and floor of
our winter garden, and part of our old house is build from it: Our new house
("Prirodni Dum") is build from Straw bales, rocks and lumber).

My danish company build a small wooden cottage in Denmark last year. It was
insulated with sheep wool and commercial flax ('len') insulation. The trick
is to NOT wash the wool, simply put it in straight from cutting the sheep,
smelly and all. This prevents insects and other problems.
The wall from inside was made like this: 2x sadrokarton, breathable membrane
(special paper), 30 cm wool, insect mesh (against moth), breathable membrane
(special paper) (to prevent moth laying eggs through the mesh), and
board/batten wooden siding (oak). I can email photos.
I will strongly recommend not to use mineral wool, and I object to anyone
calling a mineral wool insulated house for 'ekodum'. It is dangerous for your
health, and contains an enormous amount of embodied energy. Unfortunately the
companies have corrupted the architect schools in Czech to teach otherwise.
zdravim,
